EASt Start-of-the-year Lunch-Seminar : Art or Something Else? Works by Persons with Disabilities in Japan, Past and Present
EASt kicks off the new academic year with a lunch-seminar by visiting professor Tadashi HATTORI, who will share his expertise on disability and art brut in Japan.
Tadashi Hattori (Professor, Faculty of Letters, Konan University) was born in Hyogo Prefecture in 1967. 
After working as a curator at the Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art and the Yokoo Tadanori Museum of Contemporary Art, he became an associate professor in the Faculty of Letters at Konan University in 2013, and has been in his current position since 2019. He conducts research and plans exhibitions on outsider art, art brut, and the creative activities of people with disabilities.
His books include "Outsider Art" (Kobunsha Shinsho, 2003), "Kiyoshi Yamashita and Showa Art" (co-authored, Nagoya University Press, 2014), "Creative Activities of People with Disabilities" (edited, Airi Shuppan, 2016), and "Adolf Wölfli: The Kingdom of 25,000 Pages" (supervised, Kokusho Kankokai, 2017).
